ReconditeClown's Portfolio

I'm Bailey (They / Them), otherwise known online by my handle ReconditeClown, a queer UK based artist. I'm currently a 3rd year Games Art & Design student at university who is specialising in Indie Development. I also sell my art at in person art markets and conventions.I mostly make either point and click or first person walking simulator-esk games. I work in both 2D and 3D, using either Unreal Engine or Godot for the majority of my work (although I've also used the RPGMaker Engines and RenPy in the past).I draw most of the inspirations for my projects from psychological medias- whether this be pyschological horror games like Who's Lila, shows like Bojack Horseman and Neon Genesis Evangelion, or books like Goodnight PunPun. I hold a particular interest in exploring the complexities of human relationships and our personal psyche, which is reflected within my games and writing.

Art Portfolio

I draw a variety of subjects however most commonly draw my own personal original characters or fanwork to sell online / at the in person art markets & conventions I attend. Some characters shown in this portfolio belong to other people who have commissioned me. My digital artwork is either made in Procreate or Adobe Photoshop. I use Aseprite and Procreate for pixel art. Traditional Work

Although I can work with a majority of traditional mediums, I most prefer working with oil pastels and watercolours.

Digital Work

The majority of my digital work is rougher, black and white sketches however I can make fully rendered illustrations. I primarily focus on telling a story with my art - whether this be depicting charater interactions, illustrating key plot points of their indivdual stories or just making art which emphases a certain part of their personality.

Pixel Art

My pixel art is mostly a mix of sprite work and page dolls. I can also animate.

Concept Art

I prefer to do my rough, intial concepts traditionally in pen or pencil. I usually scan these up later so I have clearer images to work off when it comes to actually refining and finalising said concepts.

Turn Arounds

Character Design

When it comes to designing characters, I first decide on the rough time peroid and then gather a selection of references for things like hairstyles and clothing and then design from those - this ensures that my designs are both time peroid accurate, realistic, and varied as I use different references each time.
